Trying to pretend that the Judeo-Christian scriptures were written yesterday is tantamount to rewriting history. The Bible is an archaic work of literature that assumes (and indeed requires) an entirely different audience than its modern readership. The idea that everyone can understand the Bible with ease is a lovely ideal, but it's an unrealistic one, and the more that people have tried to promote that ideal, the more that the church has fractured from splinter groups who think that they understand the text better than their historical predecessors (typically because of an anachronistic reading of the passages). With few exceptions, the books were written to a believing community that included qualified members who could interpret the difficult passages, not merely to a single person (and even in those few exceptions, the single person was likely well-read and suitably educated in both secular and religious matters).M.A. Morenohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08684310715782293880noreply@blogger.com
